The Chugwater Rim Sub-disivion has some interesting ceremonies. One of them is planting ugly, orange lawn ornaments on another home owner's property. We found these on our front lawn a couple of weeks ago. It is a sign of acceptance into the neighborhood. Of course we felt mildly honored. About a week later we thought of someone else who would benefit by their presence.Secondly, Chou-chou got her first bath (picture below). It's about time. She was 13 months old and filthy dirty. We're talking mud up to her knees, splattered on her belly, and dabs on her face. We learned that horses roll in mud to keep the flies off. We also learned that she was water-phobic.
OK. We couldn't get her to cooperate long enough to do her hind quarters or face, but she's a lot better than she was. Afterward we tried to spray her with fly repellent for horses to prevent her form getting muddy again. She liked being sprayed less than being washed. The important thing to for us to remember is that she's cleaner and partly fly repellent, and neither Steve nor I got kicked, bit, nor trampled to death.
